Legacy Stories 2.7

This application provides a streamlined process for capturing and preserving personal and familial histories through visual and audio recordings. Users can either take new photographs or select images from their device’s photo albums, then record their descriptions to create a Pict-Oral memory that combines visual imagery with spoken narratives.

To facilitate organization, the app allows the creation of separate galleries for multiple storytellers, enabling users to manage recording sessions efficiently without confusion regarding attribution of photos and recordings.

Recorded content is uploaded to a free personal profile hosted on the LegacyStories.org website. This platform serves as an archive and sharing space, requiring users to log in with their established credentials. From the website, users can order a Pict-Oral Memoir to be professionally burned onto a durable, 100-year archival DVD.

The tool is versatile and suitable for various applications, including:

• Capturing family history by photographing ancestors and recording stories to share vital historical insights with future generations.
• Developing thematic story threads centered around specific life periods, events, or individuals, which can then be organized sequentially on the LegacyStories platform. Each thread can be transformed into a Pict-Oral Memoir™.
• Launching community or organizational Pict-Oral History Projects targeted at ethnic groups, veterans, cultural organizations, libraries, museums, and non-profit fundraising efforts (refer to “Programs” on the LegacyStories website).
• Implementing life review programs in healthcare settings such as hospices and memory care facilities, enhancing patient engagement and reminiscence activities.
• Assisting Certified Legacy Advisors and Planners in helping clients organize and prioritize legacy material as part of estate planning. Details for certification are available under “Careers” on the LegacyStories site.

Important note: After uploading recordings, users can log into their account to integrate their content with over 5 billion ancestor records available through FamilySearch’s Family Tree, connecting personal histories with a global genealogy resource.
